#inktober Day 3!
Messed around with some of my colored pens and some nicer paper courtesy of @janelastname!
The last pic is a logic error that looked rad. It would destroy any pen and paper I tried to print it on, so it is presented only in screenshot form.

Messing with line thickness. I keep filling out the page when I should really leave more white space.
It's hard making the transition from my demo display on the screen to how it'll look on an actual page!

I got about 3 hours into a different plot before realizing that I hated it so I simplified it and got this.
Noise patterns look so good on the plotter. It feels like cheating!

Knot pattern with distortion and frayed edges.
There are some minor errors I'd love to fix, but this print took 4.5 hours so I don't think it's going to happen today.

Messing around with some circle fills. I couldn't make up my mind so I tried a few prints.
This one was fun because it spits out really different compositions every time I run it.

We got come concentric circles and they're all out of phase! Just a quick one today because I have to get ready to teach.

Playing with noise fields again (they're so fun).
Busted out the metallic pens and the big 18"x12" paper that just about takes up the whole canvas bed.

Variation on yesterday's noise field. Gold ink on large black paper. Feels ~fancy~

Last night I wrote up some tools for my gcode library to help with occlusion. Today I had some fun with it by making a Thumper monster.

The code pops out a new, solvable maze every time it's fun, which is probably overkill, but programmers gonna over-program.

I tried to use simple particle interaction to define some blobby shapes and draw a map. It kinda works, but was overkill. Also it looks like a fried egg.
The single color print looks really nice as well!
Even the screenshot of my editor display (last pic) feels really charming.

I also added bezier curve support to my gcode library!

Two takes on some bezier shapes. Thought I would like the multicolor one more, but I think I prefer the black version.
Day 22 of #inktober on the plotter
I adore the path finding logic of pacman and I've been working with it a bit for an upcoming project that seemed ripe for plotting!
Here's the level 1 maze, extruded to be made of a few layers, with the paths of pac-man and the ghosts traced out.
The ghost logic is identical to the original with the exception of adding a 3rd dimension (a feature the original rules allow for very easily). In this version Pac-man just goes for the nearest pellet.
I feel like the trails really show off Clyde's unusual behavior.
Also, shoutout to The Pac-Man Dossier, probably the piece of technical games writing I come back to more than any other.
If you want to make a pac-man clone (and you should! It's a joy to program!) this paper is invaluable.

I like the vibe on this one, but there are some technical aspects of it that bug me.

Very happy with the texture from the pen starting and stopping on the long strokes.

Some offset triangles.
Some printing errors along the top which are annoying me, but can't go wrong with a little moire

Very happy with this one! I'm always really enamored with plotter prints that seem to simultaneously have order and noise. My attempt at trying to hit something like that.

The print got messed up on the final color and only got halfway through, but honestly it was already getting kinda busy so I think it was a blessing.

Plotted this a few days ago. I like the vibe of this one, but it feels a bit muddy. I'd like to try this with some colors that contrast a bit more, but I'm still recovering from surgery and don't want to hunch over the plotter. Something to come back to.

I might be recovering from surgery, but I wasn't going to miss the last day of the month.
Coded this one up yesterday and printed it today.
I've had such a blast making these and it's been so lovely that people have reached out about wanting to own some of them. I think I'll be setting up a little shop soon!
The code to generate them guarantees that all prints are unique!

@jonbro Thanks! I'm trying to get better at setting parameters that allow stuff like that to happen. The mathematician in me always wants everything to stay nicely in its box
@andy yeap - obv you need most of the stuff to stay in its box, but I think you could do like spiders georg outliers, things that just absolutely exit the rules
@whoisgina Thank you! I'm convinced it can be super cool. I like all the pieces. I just feel like they don't stick together quite right in the current form.
@andy ya i LOVE the wavy grid but am curious to see different colors/more contrast/maaaybe a thinner line weight?
@whoisgina Noted & thank you! It's on my short list! It's definitely the piece I made in October that I think has the most room for improvement! It's neat but not quite there yet.
