hey all, here's a new computer thing I made! it's called the Nonsense Laboratory, and it's a series of weird little tools for manipulating the spelling and sound of words with machine learning:

it's part of a series of projects launched yesterday showing the outcomes of the Artists + Machine Intelligence grant program, which you can learn more about here:

the two wonderful designers I worked with to make this happen: Jenny Goldstick and Tim Szetela

(I ended up doing all the front-end programming myself, which was fun, especially since I haven't done front-end dev since the jquery days... the machine learning part of the javascript was basically 100% done months and months ago and I spent the rest of the time neck-deep in MDN and questions about Svelte on stackoverflow, haha)

@aparrish @david I am so amused that my husband, my dog, and my names are mushed into DEANE. I’m cackling.

@callie @aparrish why bookmark this post, when you could bookmark the wonderful wordmangling tool that generated it, and project such delights upon any passage you encounter

@aparrish @pagrus i LOVE this and my kids are going to freak out
