Twitter politics? idk

feel as if people on Twitter like to begrudge others joy. when some people are happy or like something often Twitter ppl find enjoyment in making problematic in that person’s joy. And I don’t like to say that bc I am relatively privileged, and I haven’t really been on the bad side of these waves of anger much, but I find it really upsetting to feel as if my joy is not welcome on a global platform and I don’t know how to parse it well I guess. I feel afraid to be happy there

I guess acrimony is so much more marketable

I don’t feel acrimony and so I cannot exist on Twitter?

Like even people who have had the worst life and have no privilege at all can feel joy, so why is this acrimony the only mode Twitter produces as ‘legitimate’? It plays deeply into conservative politics. Joy and safety is what makes people share and feel community and bonding and Twitter is incapable of it

Feel as if fundamentally, community can only exist where joy is. And there is no joy on twitter because it is immediately regarded as political complacency, even if it is in spite of a political reality that it exists
