this morning one of @jalcine's posts led me to this james baldwin video touring san francisco and talking about conditions for Black folks in 1964 - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J9UG9nJ2E9U. footage and conversation includes the fillmore during redevelopment, bayview projects during demolition, ilwu cooperative housing under construction, st marys cathedral before it was rebuilt. recommend for anyone living in sf

I knew about these things from a historical standpoint - the pushing of Black folks out of the western addition, the intentional segregation of bayview, etc, but had never seen contemporary video of people describing what was happening in their own words, and tying that into larger currents
