It's been a few months so here is my re- #introduction.

I live in Vermont with my spouse (20yrs), our rescue dog, Leo, & seven sheep (Navajo-Churro, Shetland, Finn, FinnXShetland).

I am currently semi-retired, but spent most of my professional career filled with imposter syndrome building and managing websites. A Jack of all trades, master of none.

My hobbies include reading, making timelapse videos and live-streaming the view of our farm*, and brewing beer & mead.

I wish society was arranged in a way where it was easier to say "I would like to travel to another place, on foot" and taking like a month to walk from the midwest to like new york or something at a relaxing pace. Without being arrested for publically camping and with any kind of material/social infrastructure that was friendly to people doing such a thing.

Lo! the moon ascending!
Up from the east, the silvery round moon;

I'm sorry but I'm tired of everyone repeating this wildly incorrect fact, if these two things were carbon emission equivalents then a gas-powered leaf blower would burn 35 gallons of gas an hour

Did you know… Running a gas-powered leaf blower for an hour is the carbon emission equivalent of driving a 2016 Toyota Camry 1,100 miles? Let's drive progress > #ForThoseWhoMakeTheWorld #EarthDay

The Last Express is on sale for a ludicrous Β£1.24 . A very rare adventure game that not only isn't terrible but is one of the best games ever written. Its writer has also released the script for free

Any good Sci-fi book recs for my mate who has some Audible credits to use?

Ursula K. Le Guin on "technology"

"Technology is the active human interface with the material world.

But the word is consistently misused to mean only the enormously complex and specialised technologies of the past few decades, supported by massive exploitation both of natural and human resources.

This is not an acceptable use of the word. "Technology" and "hi tech" are not synonymous, and a technology that isn't "hi," isn't necessarily "low" in any meaningful sense.

We have been so desensitized by a hundred and fifty years of ceaselessly expanding technical prowess that we think nothing less complex and showy than a computer or a jet bomber deserves to be called "technology " at all. As if linen were the same thing as flax β€” as if paper, ink, wheels, knives, clocks, chairs, aspirin pills, were natural objects, born with us like our teeth and fingers -- as if steel saucepans with copper bottoms and fleece vests spun from recycled glass grew on trees, and we just picked them when they were ripe..."

Okay so I just had a horrid experience at dinner with my parents and have come to the conclusion that for my psychological well-being I need to find somewhere to live ASAP.

If you're a queer leftist looking for roommates lmk. I'm willing to move pretty much anywhere, though currently I'm in lower Alabama.

I've set aside my tax return to cover a month or two of rent while I find a job, but I'll need to do that whether or not I move far.

You can share this with queer leftists on or off Fedi.
