Small Instance Community Tools

I'm not releasing the code publicly yet but I've written a tool that lets ANY user of this instance direct message EVERY OTHER user of this instance through a proxy account (so people can block the proxy if they want).

Why would we want this? Friend Camp is a small (70 person, 40 active) invite-only instance of people who trust each other. We like to organize events (book clubs, etc) but not everyone sees everything. So this is for doing that kind of thing.

As an admin, I can also use it for server-wide critical messages (security related updates, important new features).

@darius interesting! it's like local only, but ... moreso. i like the idea!

@t54r4n1 yeah it's basically local only plus a push notification!

@darius OOOOH! I'd like that!

@darius I love this idea!
I implemented something similar for IRC a few years ago, where a bot would rebroadcast messages tagged @all. Definitely not for a general-purpose high-traffic instance but it's a cool idea for something small 😃

@darius This is so cool! Also I think it’s a good benchmark that the docs can just refer to you by name and people reading know who that is and how to contact them

@johnholdun we're like Cheers that way
