@cblgh I recently got all my music off of cloud hosting and moved back to manual management of my collection and it's been so good, I am actually actively listening to music again for the first time in like 8 years
@cblgh have you read Liz Pelly on Spotify? Absolutely brilliant stuff

@danburzo @cblgh I've had a great experience doing exactly that. MusicBrainz Picard is really good for getting your id3 tags in order. My only player recommendation is MediaMonkey, which is tied to Windows (with Android/iOS clients) but it's so incredibly good I feel compelled to recommend it anyway
@darius oh! i think i read one of Pelly's articles previously? *scrolls through ssb history* this one!
https://watt.cashmusic.org/writing/thesecretlivesofplaylists i'll have a look at these others, thanks :)
also a good read is Rasmus Fleischer & co's " Spotify Teardown: Inside the Black Box of Streaming Music"
