Intrusive thought of the morning: a slime from Dragon Quest chanting "Goo will survive in America?"

uhm, chex quest is on steam and its freeeeee???????????????

@darius Yes! This!

This is why I keep talking about the need for a "social reader", not just bringing back RSS!

https://indieweb.org/social_reader

Another day, another "bring back Google Reader" article that does not acknowledge Reader's extremely robust social features.

These features allowed someone to, for example, share an article they liked to their friends and spawn a private mini-forum to discuss that article. It was similar to sharing an article with friends on Facebook, but based on your RSS curation rather than whatever you got from Facebook's awful news feed.

I'd like to add a wiki page to Hometown with a list of known servers running Hometown. If you administer a Hometown server and would like your server to be on the list, please let me know!

Hometown v1.0.4+3.1.4 is now available!

github.com/hometown-fork/homet

In addition to upgrading to Mastodon 3.1.4, this includes significantly better support for local-only posting from 3rd party apps. Hometown will now respect your default federation setting from a third party app, so if you're set to local by default, apps will post local by default. More info here:

A lot of good fixes coming in the next #hometown update next week, including a fix for the “not available” image preview bug which affected pretty much the whole fediverse, as well as several fixes for local-only posting, including local-only pinned posts. Thanks for the hard work, @darius! #dadmin

@darius Whenever anyone signs up to the instance, all processing is stopped for 2-3 minutes. Anyone typing a toot is prompted to finish it quickly.

btw please take this idea and run with it, anyone

This weekend I'm updating Hometown to be synced with the latest Mastodon (3.1.4) and also fixing a bug where local pinned posts are shown to non-local viewers. Should have a release by Monday once I've tested it here on Friend Camp for a day or so.

Idea: Animal Crossing roleplay fediverse instance, with ridiculous adherence to the AC rules, like before a new person joins the instance, the new person has to request some random item from people who are currently on the instance, and that item must be mailed to the person before they join

CLI one-liner to open all currently-modified files in a git repo in tabs in vim:

vim -p $(git status --porcelain | awk '{print $2}')

Another RateMyProfessor review:

"Don't do it unless you are a glutton for punishment. He will tell you multiple times per class that you will never amount to anything or win a Nobel Prize. He farts at least once per class so try not to sit in the splash zone. Overall, not worth the anal seepage acquired from this class."

I forgot about the farting. But. Yeah.
