@casey gutted when i found out that john maus’ version was a cover and that it basically sounds like he karaoke’d over the original

@dk i feel conflicted about how i feel about the original vs cover of this song

@casey @dk what, I think it’s nice, it sounds like a duet! I like both versions a lot.

@casey @dk maybe my headphones are really good or something but I think the Maus version adds a lot.

@Wiley @casey last i listened they seemed nearly identical save for his vocals, but now i’m curious + will have another listen soon

@Wiley @casey it felt strange to me that my favorite song of his was like 5% him. and i’ve had trouble finding things by the original artist but maybe i didn’t look very hard.

@dk @casey oh the album it came from is great. It’s all just her and a Casio. I recommend it.

@dk @casey thinking now about how one of my favorite songs is the Jim and William Reed ‘Christmas Remix’ of Birthday by the Sugarcubes. I like the idea of passing songs back and forth and just adding layers.

@Wiley i am gonna listen to both versions of this now

@Wiley holy shit maybe i should listen to more sugarcubes

@Wiley okay, i love JAMC but on first listen their, uh, remix, sounds like kind of a mess to me. not hard for me to choose between the two.

Also, just listened to the two "hey moon" versions, and you are completely right, they're quite different.

@dk @Wiley reading "hey moon" and not knowing the song is making me want to request a mashup of Hey Jude with Blue Moon

@Wiley nvm maybe i just needed to listen to it a few more times lolol

@dk I mean it's just them playing guitar over it and going 'hey hey hey hey,' but I love it. Also I listened to it for years on a slowly decaying casette tape, so ymmv.
