i love meeting new crows.
they've heard the stories about me, who leaves peanuts and never harms a crow, and so they swoop down to the ground thinking they know the deal. breadlady gives peanuts when she sees you, right?
and then she SEES YOU and you're a tiny black bird only so much larger than this giant's hand, and its eyes are TRACKING YOU, its TEETH are SHOWING. the crow thinks OH MY GOD, AM I GOING TO DIE
so they back off to about thirteen feet and i toss them a peanut
@courtney two years is, as i understand it, pretty much the waiting period on minor violations. i am willing to venture that they are upset with you because you inconvenienced them, but they don’t hate you like they would a crow-catcher or trap-leaver. i’m sure some peanuts will patch things right up.
i pick up a $5 bag of roasted unsalted peanuts from the store every other week, and i fill a small ziploc every time i go out. then i can grab the bag and go whenever, no hassle.
@courtney fwiw it seems crows find unshelling peanuts to be intellectually stimulating, but you can always unshell the nuts yourself and pocket the shells to reduce detritus.
