At work when we talk about building out newer programs, I've started reminding people that if they say "we should spend more time / money / staff on my program" they're also usually inadvertently saying "we should spend less time / money / staff on someone else's program." It's not always true, but it does help structure conversations about strategy for resource allocation.

"Nathan for You" is a great show, but I can only watch a tiny bit of it at a time out of second-hand embarrassment.

An older man on the train is wearing a hat with the words "Economical and Efficient Single-Payer Healthcare" embroidered on it. Nothing else, no logos or explanation. I'm into this possible new fashion trend.

i don't understand any of the words on this website, simply if i see one that i think is funny i laugh at it as though with the pure mind of an infant

I always get popups accusing me of using an ad blocker trying to guilt me into disabling it. But I don't use an ad blocker, I use a third-party-script blocker, a tracker-blocker. So a compromise would be: show me ads, but don't use third-party technologies that I know nothing about to secretly track me around the internet. I feel like that's a fair ask!

"A good boy tower to heaven to wage war on behalf of all good boy kind." This cat, like most cats, can turn me into a complete idiot by just existing.

Me talking to my cat just now: "What a very good boy! The goodest of good boys. An absolute miracle of good-boy-ness."

Very nice and chill playlist, Spotify, thank you. (Also includes Air, Trentemoller, Boards of Canada, Burial, Bjork)

One cool thing about wikis devoted to fictional universes is that you'll Google a cool new character who appears in season 2 just to see what actress plays her, and the first line of the wiki article will be like "Jane Smith is a student who is discovered to be an undead angelic being in season 7, who murders her sister in season 9, and who kills Satan disguised as her lover, Amelia Earhart, in season 13."

The place where I am having brunch has played three different songs I only know from TikTok, and I can't tell if it's a TikTok playlist, or if it's a regular playlist and the only place I reliably hear new music these days is TikTok.
