"i have google chrome installed on my computer"

experiment, boosts welcome

@nasser literally only for the irish sessions my friends refuse to do on a platform other than facebook messenger video chat

unsolicited advice

@wayward @nasser the messenger app is actually decent and hopefully doesn't do anything suspicious (I don't think it asked me for any surprising permissions like file access)

@nasser darn I was hoping to be able to vote no but alas, dayjob. =)

experiment, boosts welcome

@nasser @technomancy whoops, in that case I voted incorrectly

@nasser @technomancy How far from chrome can we get before voting yes? ungoogled-chromium? Electron? QtWebengine-based browser?

experiment, boosts welcome

@nasser damn I voted no but I do have chromium >_>

experiment, boosts welcome

@nasser Chromium on my dual boot linux desktop, but i never use it. no chrome on my windows install. Chrome came installed on my Android phone but i never use it. i pretty much exclusively use Firefox on all platforms and if i knew it would hurt google in any way to uninstall their browsers I'd probably do it. it's been years since I've encountered a website that only works properly in chrome.

re: experiment, boosts welcome

@nasser I haven't used a Chromium-based browser in almost 3 years now, outside of Electron

experiment, boosts welcome

@nasser Where's the "Yes, but I only use it two times a year" option :blob_upset:

experiment, boosts welcome

@nasser Technically we have Chromium installed, but the literal /only/ reason we have it is for Zoom.

Grawr.

@nasser Does an electron-based application like Atom count?

experiment, boosts welcome

@urusan not for the purposes of this poll, no

experiment, boosts welcome

@nasser it's on my work computer, tho, because some county systems will only work with Explorer or Chrome 🤦🏻‍♀️

experiment, boosts welcome

@nasser I /only/ have Chromium installed because I'm a web developer. That's it.

experiment, boosts welcome

@68kHeart that counts!

experiment, boosts welcome

@nasser Of course! And I had voted accordingly. :P

experiment, boosts welcome

@nasser do hou mean google chrome, or any app using google chrome to render any stupid thing ?

experiment, boosts welcome

@phigger chrome itself

experiment, boosts welcome

@nasser yeah, I prefer for Alphabet to have to work a little harder than that to get my information.

Besides, Firefox is just better, and I've modded the holy hell outta my userChrome.css file. It looks cool now, with capsule-shaped tabs and a better looking menu button (I prefer my hamburgers to be more of the tasty variety, and to me, a Hamburger Menu is what I read at Zombie Burger.)

@s20 yeah that makes sense and sounds great! I'm on chromium mostly for v8 and webgl because I do games stuff... But I haven't checked in on FF in a minute.

@nasser Had to do it for work-related stuff, never use it for anything else, and I'm ashamed of it; will delete as soon as I have the chance
