calling it now: the next successful social media site will be a MUD with gardening instead of combat mechanics
people want to be in a place that they personally (alongside their friends) can exert effort to make better, even if only in small ways
Some twitter v. Mastodon tips for all of the lovely new tooters:
When you like a tweet on twitter, a swarm of AIs spin into action, analysing every aspect of the tweet and trying so desperately to find the matching tweet to show you next that will keep you scrolling, lest their masters decommission them in favor of a new version.
When you fave a toot on Mastodon, there aren't any AIs; you just made another human being across the world feel nice.
Woah, now that favs have no value, you get cool ratios like 20b:1f, unknowable in bird realm
Im here to chew bubble gum and shitpost and i can do two things at once
Am i wrong or could you potentially do something really interesting with a bot on a custom instance that can procedurally generate custom emoji? It seems like other instances just pull those emoji over automatically
People on here wanting to make mastodon more "wholesome" and "unironic" than twitter. Noble goals indeed but have you considered making it more HORNY than twitter???
Boost for horny

⚠️ IMPORTANT ⚠️
Friend Camp features several modifications that were requested by our users.
If you want decent privacy (the info doesn't leave this server), the only way to do that is to set your account to private, only accept friend requests from other friend.camp users, and only ever @ mention other friend.camp users. Once you start talking to people on other servers, all bets are off. Any private message you send to someone on another server could be looked at by the admin of a different server. This is kind of like email: if you are on a private email server, and you send an unencrypted email to a gmail account, congrats, Google now has the content of that email. But also, you do this every day, so, hey. The internet!
