when I was maybe 9 or 10, we were being taught in school how to use search engines. The adult running the lesson insisted that I had to put a question mark at the end of my Ask Jeeves query, and I remember thinking, jeez this person doesn't know anything

@tripofmice if you don’t jeeves gets angry

early internet memory

@mood you have to search "thank you, sir" after every query

early internet memory

@tripofmice I think it's important to teach kids to be polite to technology, actually? Especially given how many "bots" actually employ humans on the back end

early internet memory

@phooky extremely agreed, but "you have to phrase a search query as a grammatically correct sentence" is not I think the way

early internet memory

@tripofmice without grammar, what are we but base animals barking out "CORTANA, TWERK VIDEOS NOW"

early internet memory

@phooky we missed a future( perhaps mercifully) in which jeeves would twerk for us

early internet memory

@tripofmice you know the altavista logo kind of looks like a butt and is set for an ironic comeback
